Scientology has opened the door to my life!!! I can honestly say that if it weren't for Scientology I would not be alive today, I would have been overtaken by the drug addiction that was plaguing my life and many of those around me. I am only one of the very many in this civilization that looked to drugs as a relief to my problems and to keep my mind off of just how bad things were in my life.

     I was going no where in life, I would catch a glimpse of that each day, as that thought would come in I would quickly turn to my drugs to take my mind off of the problem. That was no solution to it as I found I needed more drugs to get high and this took more money which I was making very little of. I unlike many did not turn to crime for my money but worked longer hours and spent less of them sober to get by.

     A man selling books on the street introduced me to Scientology by insisting that I buy this book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. At that time I was drunk and very upset with his persistence and I bought the book just to get him to leave me alone. That turned out to be the single greatest act of kindness that I had ever run across in my life at the time.

     Here I was an obvious drug addict and alcoholic walking down the street, and not only did this man care enough about where I was going in my life but he persisted through my drunken abuses, to sell me a book that contained answers I needed.

     That was ten years ago and every once in a while I see that man and thank him again and again, but I can never describe to him the magnitude of what he did for me. And the funny thing about that is he never asked for thanks. It was, just another day for him.

     I have found that the saving of lives is so common the everyday life of Scientology that it is never thought twice about and no one asks for thanks or reward. Scientologists just do it because it needs to be done.

     And it is the right thing to do!
